Vanessa is the James and Elizabeth Freeman Professor of Management at the Freeman College of Management, Bucknell University. She attended Swarthmore College earning a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology. She continued her education at Carnegie Mellon University, earning a Masters of Industrial Administration and Ph.D. from the Tepper School of Business. Vanessa has been an active SHRM member for over 20 years. She is SPHR and SHRM – SCP certified.
Before joining the faculty at Freeman College, Vanessa served on faculties at the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC and the University of Louisiana, at Lafayette. Vanessa studies corporate social responsibility, ethics, leadership, and workplace values. Her work has been published in multiple academic and trade publications.
Vanessa enjoys engaging with her community. Before moving to Central PA, she served on the Lafayette Public Library Foundation Board, The Lafayette Parish Library Board , The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum Governance Board, Girl Scouts of Louisiana Pines to the Gulf and Faith House, a non-profit organization assisting survivors of domestic abuse. Vanessa currently serves on the board of the Donald Heiter Community Center in Lewisburg, PA.
Vanessa lives in Winfield with her husband, Michael and their beloved beagle Mylo.
