LGBTQ+ Inclusion for the Workplace: Building HR Awareness, Etiquette, & Best Practices - Virtual Program Presentation

Efforts have been made in recent years to advance equality and inclusion, but there are still many instances where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Questioning, and other gender and sexually marginalized identities (LGBTQ+) people find themselves excluded, unwelcome, and uncomfortable in the workplace. According to the Human Rights Campaign, up to 50% of employees report hiding their sexual orientation at work due to bias, hostility, discrimination, and mistreatment. This interactive session will help attendees:

  • Develop a greater understanding of the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals;
  • Become more familiar with LGBTQ+-inclusive terminology and language, including appropriate pronoun usage;
  • Understand the differences between biological sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression;
  • Review current data on LGBTQ+ employees and workplace trends; and
  • Discuss specific HR scenarios that involve LGBTQ+ workers and develop strategies to create more welcoming and inclusive workplaces.
